Why is it that Spanish Natives/Background do not have a wide global distribution like the English.?

Spain established and also colonised a lot of places just like england (a lot of Latin America, some in Asia). Yet all they have pretty much left is their architecture at the time, a small part of their culture and the use of their language. Whilst the english pretty much have made their selves natives on their colonised lands with great abundance in the populations.
