My pain management dr is recommending a left lumbar sympathetic block for the pain in my left foot.?

my pain management dr is recommending a left lumbar sympathetic block for the pain in my left foot. back on oct. 8th i had an open fasciotomy with the release of an entrapped nerve, this coming after 3 cortizone shots and a year of unrelenting pain. i have 2 questions. first: statistically speaking is the sympathetic block going to help, and second: (this one is for advice by others who have gone thru this please)how am i supposed to deal with this unrelenting pain without going crazy and driving away the people who care?"
