If people behave like this when you talk to them, what should you do?

Firstly, ask yourself if you are at fault. If you respect yourself they will respect you. Maybe you are doing something to annoy these people. Such as your mannerism, how polite are you to others around you? Is it your poor hygien, etc, or are you just asking plain stupid questions? So no! It is not time to change careers or move 2000 miles away like the ostridge which burries its' head in the sand in times of trouble. Face up to them and start doing things that marvels them. Such as performing better at work. You just might get the attention you were looking for!
