Pi bonding in valence bond theory?

Each carbon has 3 sp2 hybrid orbitals and 1 unhybridized p orbital. Two of the sp2 hybridized orbitals are used for the C-H bonds, and these are sigma bonds. One of the sp2 hybridized orbitals is used for one of the C-C bonds, and this is also a sigma bond. The other C-C bond is a pi bond formed by the unhybridized p orbital. So each carbon has 3 sigma bonds and 1 pi bond. They each have sp2 hybridization and contain an unhybridized p orbital.
